What does the Staphslide test for?

My customer performed the tests and determined the results as negative after 45 seconds, but then walked away returning 15 minutes later and the test was positive. What happened?

Reaction times longer than specified (45 seconds) might cause false positive results due to a drying effect. This sample should be retested and determined at 45 seconds. Positive reactions will usually occur within 15-20 seconds

Can other agar plates be used with the ASI manufactured Staphslide Latex Test, such as CNA, Chocolate agar?

No, only pure, 24 hour cultures gown on 5% sheep blood agar plates (TSA) can be used

What is the sample size?

Single colony

Can the controls be titrated?

No

Does the ASI Staphslide test detect methicillin- resistant Staph aureus (MRSA)?

Yes, will detect methicillin-resistant Staph aureus (MRSA) strains that produce clumping factor and protein A. However, it will not differentiate between a MRSA or non-MRSA organism (Positive or Negative for MRSA – Methicillin Resistant)
